Quranic app practices among multilingual Muslim youth in Denmark

This article sheds light on a set of religious literacy practices which have so far received very little scientific attention, namely ‘quranic app practices’. Quranic app practices are conceptualized as ways of engaging with the Quran through religious apps on smartphones or tablets. The article is based primarily on an explorative group interview with four young people from a Year 8 class in a multilingual lower secondary school in Denmark. The paper discusses the problem of preserving native Latvian language and the transfer of cultural identity in Latvian diaspora. One of the central tasks for Latvia’s diaspora policy is to support preservation of Latvian language and culture in diaspora with the aim of strengthening the Latvian identity and the sense of belonging to Latvia. Support is provided to diaspora schools for preserving Latvian language, culture and identity outside of Latvia. A Linguistic journey to the border

Language is a powerful tool. Linguistic creativity provides the means to new ways of knowing, thinking, and being, and allows a new set of dialogues to emerge. This paper illuminates how Guillermo Gómez-Peña, a Chicano performance artist, writer, activist and educator uses language to do just this. In this paper, I will specifically focus on Gómez-Peña’s use of monolingual English and Spanish, as well as his application of code-mixed dialogue and illustrate how his linguistic innovation reflects his position on Border Culture. peerReviewed

L’obiettivo di questo lavoro è quello di presentare il ruolo della narrazione nel modello didattico e di ricerca della Scuola di lingua italiana per Stranieri dell’Università di Palermo. In particolare, gli autori illustrano i tre pilastri su cui poggia l’impianto narrativo del modello di Itastra: l’autobiografia linguistica (§ 2); i laboratori artistico-narrativi (§ 3); la narrazione come pratica discorsiva metacomuncativa (§ 4).
